The Jon Miller Quartet is rapidly gaining recognition as one of Western Canada's premiere instrumental jazz groups. The Victoria based group was formed in 2007 with the addition of saxophonist Roy Styffe to the already seasoned trio of guitarist Rob Cheramy, upright bassist James Young and drummer/leader Jon Miller. In 2009 the quartet released their Monday Magazine M Award nominated debut CD 'Orchidology.' The group performs regularly at top Vancouver Island venues including Hermann's Jazz Club, Victoria
The group's repertoire encompasses standards in the modern vein, originals by band members and covers from outside the jazz idiom.

Band Members:
Jon Miller's early interest in drums and jazz led to a Jazz Performance degree at McGill University (with distinction) and much of 1990's living and playing music in Montreal, Amsterdam and Philadelphia. In clubs, festivals, concerts and recordings he has shared the stage with (among others) Jeff Healey, Charlie Hunter, Skip Bey, Vic Vogel, John Stech and Roy Reynolds.
Also an accomplished composer, arranger and band leader, in 2009 his Victoria based quartet released their debut CD of original music “Orchidology” which went on to receive airplay both Canada-wide and internationally.

Rob Cheramy Widely acknowledged as one of the West Coast's finest jazz guitarists, Rob Cheramy studied composition through Berklee School of Music and has recorded and performed with numerous acts throughout Western Canada. He teaches at the Victoria Conservatory's Jazz Programme and has numerous recording credits to his name, including duo work with saxophonist Roy Reynolds.
Roy Styffe Roy has performed for the past twenty-five years as a jazz saxophonist, clarinetist and flute player. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Humber College. While in Toronto, Roy recorded and performed with Don Thompson, Ed Bickert, Kenny Wheeler, Pat Labarbera, Bernie Senensky and Ron Collier. Roy has several recordings under his own leadership, has taught privately and with the Toronto District School Board. He has performed at major jazz festivals across the country and is now happy to call Victoria home. Roy currently teaches and performs regularly with Miranda Sage, George McFetridge, the Monday Night Big and, the Kelby McNayr Quintet, Chris Millington Big and and Sean Drabitt.
James Young -upright bass, compositions
James' professional career spanning over 25 years includes playing and recording with many world class musicians. He has performed with Holly Cole, Lenny Breau, Phil Nimmons, Julius Hemphill, Lee Konitz and Roscoe Mitchell. He has also recorded in many of Canada's top studios including work with JUNO award winner Ken Hamm at Blue Wave studios in Vancouver. Classically trained, he holds a degree from the University of Alberta and has received numerous scholarships to the Banff Center for the Arts. He has performed at every major jazz festival in Canada.
